AXEL A LITTLE OVER 5
Hi LuAnn! We're home. Lola did
beautifully. She did not potty on the trip at
all, but as soon as I got her home on the
grass...Bingo! Car sickness was not a
problem, she ate her dinner and drank
water and potty again, outside, about a
half hour later. She's playing and friendly;
so far, amazing for a first day. Thank you
for all your great advice. More to come.

We are so happy with our puppy, whose
naming our children! He is doing really
well, follows Lilly everywhere and is very
affectionate with us. House-training is
going great. What we need to work on
is sleeping at night. He sleeps in a crate
beside our bed and Lilly is nearby, but
he's still needing out twice during the
night. In spite of that, we love him! He's
really sweet and really scary smart. He
is learning new things each day. We
live in a 2-story house so watching him
conquer the stairs has been fun! He
was afraid at first but now is up and
down constantly. Did you teach him to

really nice to see you again.
Hi LuAnn -
Kai is doing great! He's been coming with me to work every day and everyone at the office enjoy having him around. He is very mellow
during the day. He mostly just lays under my desk but we get a good 15-20 minute walk in every day and we usually go outside and play
once or twice a day when I need to take a break from work. Thhe guys at work like having him around.
He's doing very good with his crate at night... and now he only cries if he has to go out but most nights he's good from 10PM until 6AM in
He's doing great with being house-broken at the office and only had accidents on the very first day he came to work. At home it's a little
more of a struggle mostly because of all the activity at the house from around 5pm until 8pm (dinner, bath, bed etc).
I still need to get you a picure of all of us together, but here's a couple of him at the office. I know Grandma and Grandpa are coming
over for dinner tonight, hopefully I can remember to ask them to snap a photo that I can send to you.
Thanks again LuAnn, I love my new dog! 10-18-12

Hi LuAnn, We had our first day at the dog park. After half an hour Lola felt comfortable and
ready to play. She is one pooped pup! I'm sending a few more pictures of her first outing.
It was a little scary for both of us at first, but lots of fun to watch her play. Hope you and
yours had a great day. Anne 11-22-12
Hi LuAnn -
Just wanted to share our latest family photo with Kai. He's doing awesome... up to 40 lbs and is doing great with his training. He absolutely
loves Bil-Jac training treats.... I'm pretty sure I could teach him to type if I had enough treats on me.
Not sure if you can answer this question over email but can you explain how you hold the dog when you are trying to clip their face. Kai is
in need of a trim and I just don't know how to hold him steady.
Regardless, I'm quite sure we're going to want another puppy in a year or so... so feel free to ping me anytime you have pups available and
I'll let you know if we're ready yet.
Thanks again LuAnn... Kai is a wonderful addition to our family.
FOREVER HOMES. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE FAMILIES AND GOD BLESS!
We are getting Adele settle in. We are going to name her Wrights Chelsea Morning on her registration papers and call her Chelsea. The
name is from London in the UK where Adele is from. We have been there a couple times and love the name.
She is still very shy, but seems to be settling in just fine. Probably wondering where all the activity is with a lot of other dogs around. She
has gone potty outside every time so far with no "accidents" in the house yet. She slept all night in her crate in our bedroom without any
problems. We put her blanket in it with her mommy's smell and a couple others too I think.
We love her very much and she is everything we were both hoping she would be. She seems pretty happy, but still a bit confused.
Everything will be all good very soon. We want her to take her time to adjust to her new surroundings.
Thank you again for everything,

She is absolutely perfect! I think I may have said that before. Just a couple "accidents" in the house, but mostly she does her potty outside in the yard. We need
to train her to be able to go while on the leash though. All in good time.
She is finally coming to her new name. I really do love the name and it seems to suit her.
Took her to the vet last Saturday and found out she has an infection in her eyes (put her on eye drop medication) and it seems to be getting much better now.
She also had worms, so that is also being taken care of. We are going to have her spayed tomorrow because our vet suggested if we are going to do it and she
will not be shown in conformation, it is best to do the spay before she has her first heat cycle. Part of the reason is that it will help prevent mammary tumors
later in her life. We also discussed the length of her tail (she has been called a Portuguese Water Dog a couple of times already) and it should be about 3
vertebrae shorter. We are not going to shorten Chelsea's tail at this point, it would be considered an amputation at her age and definitely not worth the pain to
her. But with the really great conformation dogs you are breeding, you might talk about it to your vet too for you next litter. They do grow into those tails a bit
too and I agree that if the tail is too short it is worse than too long. Just wanted to pass along any information I learn to you.
So, we also took her to the dog park Saturday afternoon and completely wore her out! There were really too many dogs there that day and she was a bit
overwhelmed so we didn't stay long. Sunday was a quiet day at home, getting ready for work again on Monday.
Tuesday we took her to the vet's office again for a "doggy play date" for a couple reasons. I wanted her to be able to interact with other dogs, get out of her crate
for a few extra hours and to go to the vet's for something fun. Seems to have worked. She is doing just fine.
I don't have any new pics to send to you right now. Steve is the one who takes them most of the time and he has his phone with him. I'll try to get some tonight
and email again very soon.
Just one final note here... WE REALLY LOVE HER!!!!!
Here's Kai, fresh from the
LOLA So Pretty!

So sorry I haven't written or sent pictures before now.
We keep pretty busy around here. Chelsea is the most perfect dog for us! She travels very well and we have
taken her to Atlanta last month and last weekend it was off to Philadelphia, PA for a long weekend. Everyone
loves her who meets her. It took awhile for her to trust us, I think she was homesick for a long time, but she
has settled in now and seems to be very happy with her new life.
She loves going to the dog park and can run faster than most of the other dogs she meets there. Her favorite
thing is to play chase with the other dogs and she will tease them until they chase her, then she turns and
chases them back! Fun, fun, fun.
She fetches a ball and a small cloth Frisbee and will bring them right back to us and put them in our hands.
At first she would get distracted at the slightest thing and forget about bringing the ball (or Frisbee) back.
Now it is a huge deal for her to get it to us as fast as she can so she can chase it again. Great exercise for
her in our small back yard.
I've gone to part time at work so I'm home early every afternoon. Spending lots more time with her. We got a
huge new crate last weekend so she can actually walk around in it. Much better. I hope to be able to start
leaving her out of the crate during the day within a couple more months. We have left her out once in awhile
for maybe an hour or so at a time. So far, so good.
She is very smart and learns fast. She has a very gentle temperament and we have to teach her with soft
voices, we really can't yell at her because if we do, it upsets her too much. Not that we yell, but things like
when she steals something off the kitchen counter, we both (Steve and I) yell "NO!!!!" at the same time. She
won't come to us again for around 10 or 15 minutes. She responds to a sharp "AH" that isn't too loud much
better. Immediately stops what she is doing and looks at us as if to say... "What? I was just checking it out!"
Chelsea makes us laugh a lot with her antics. She can play with a toy all by herself, throwing it pretty high in
the air and catching it herself. She uses her front paws like a kitty to bat things (balls or plastic water
bottles) around and chase them again. She can jump really high and to twists in the air to try to catch water
droplets from the hose too. She sleeps in our bedroom on the floor by our bed and is happy with that
arrangement, although sometimes she gets to come up on the bed for a few minutes of cuddle time before
going to sleep.
We really love her so much!
I'll do my best to write and send pics more often.

|Hi LuAnn, yep folks just stop their car
like a show pony:) Lola loves
children. I think she she knows they
play and she always wants to play.
Our stumbling block is seeing other
dogs. She bows and dances and
that's not allowed at class. We call her
the social butterfly, but it might flunk
her. Always good natured
and friendly; the class trainer just
adores her and is amazed at her ability
to think through a problem. The other
evening we were learning the "touch"
command. Apparently the precursor
to learning other tasks. She was told
to sit and then touch your finger as
you placed it around her. Great. Well
David was trying the new command,
told Lola to sit and stay, but placed his
finger too far away for her to touch it
without moving forward. Poor thing
whined. You could see her conflict.
She wanted to "touch", but was told
to sit and stay, so poor Lola cried. I've
never heard her whine before.
Definitely got her treat!! We'll keep
