Hello LuAnn,

Bubba has already proven to be an interesting experience...We had a great ride home; he was wonderful...sat in the passenger seat for the first 3 hours, in my lap for the next
5...when we got home, he quickly found every electrical cord in the house, every piece of paper, EVERY ELECTRICAL CORD!! He has discovered my brass/glass livingroom table
but is less successful biting into the glass top or the huge brass bottom. Fortunately, he has not attempted to chew on the grand piano....he has sat under it while I was playing
Bubba quickly managed to escape out of my gated kitchen. Fortunately, he very quickly learned how to use the doggie door !!!  Sleeping in the crate was also a failure! Much
like the gated kitchen, he quickly greeted me at my bed within minutes of putting him in the crate...I put him back in and then watched him squeeze through the fencing!!!..the
crate is obviously too big...so for the past two nights he has slept in bed with me and I must say, he sleeps very well.

I had to leave this morning and was at a loss as to what to do...so I left him in a very safe bathroom (no cords), which seemed to work very well....other than wrestling with the
towels & newspapers, he managed to pull the toilet brush out of its container and throw it around...interestingly, he peed in the shower.

We went to the vet today and that went very well. We waited so long that he practically slept through the examination.

I have tried to take pictures but between my pathetic photography skills and Bubba's very fast movements, no pictures yet. My sister-in-law and some strangers at the vet got
pics, however. They were all amazed at his size and his good looks.

He is mostly like a "third leg"...he follows me everywhere, constantly under my feet and when he is not chewing on cords, he is sleeping, huddled under my desk by my feet. If I
move, he is right there to move also.

...and has become very adept at responding to his name...the vet called him "Bubba-Martin" but I corrected her, explaining that he IS NOT southern--he has only one first name!

I do have a question about the blue bottle marked "Isopropyl Alcohol"...what is it for?

It was nice to hear about Bubbas adventures. His sister Bella also had a great trip
home. She slept on Jims lap the 3 hours it took to get home. She loves her crate. She
has slept in it every  night only one night has she whinned. It has been 2 weeks. But
Bella also likes all electrical cords,    and anything she can reach and run with. We can
go outside without our leash and do our business. We go out with her. Cheerios is her
treat she gets one cheerio for doing her business...I pushed wrong button .Didn't mean
to push send button. Having trouble keeping Bella out of dishwasher she thinks she
wanting to play  too rough and nips at ankles and fingers I try not to get upset with her
but it hurts so she is learning it is not good to bite mommy. Finally was able to get
down 2 steps into garage by ourself. Also she finally was able to jump up in Jims lap in
chair. Bella also loves to tear up magazines and papers; my purse handles, anything
within her reach. Loves to carry sticks around back yard.  We love her its just like
starting all over teaching your child right from wrong. Talk to u later

I can't begin to thank you enough for all the love, care and companionship you
put into your breeding program LuAnn.  It certainly comes through in the
puppies.  We brought Archer home on a Friday afternoon and by Sunday he
was settled into the schedule & routine and was such a great happy, healthy
boy! We had a really difficult decision between the pups and if we hadn't
already had two other dogs I'm sure we would have brought two home at least!

We have been extremely pleased with all the information and support LuAnn
gives.  We were sent home with a wonderful puppy pack that included a
blanket with his mom's scent on it - not many breeders would be quite that
thoughtful! She also provided a booklet with a wealth of information and
suggestions on raising and caring for standard poodles. We were given a great
selection of toys for him to start playing with, a leash and collar, brush and
food! Really, everything we would need other than dishes!

It is really noticeable that these puppies have been well socialized and
desensitized to most new scary things to puppies! Pretty much when we got
home, he hit the floor running and playing as if he had been here a month.

We would recommend LuAnn Wright, A Patchwork of Poodles to anyone
searching for a standard poodle!

Jennifer & Matt Cretens - Proud new parents of Archer!
Hi LuAnn,
Just checking to see how everything is going.  Somer is beautiful!  Kb went to
potty break and the wind whipped my umbrella out of my hands and hit him on
the head.  He was then convinced the sky was falling and pouted the remainder
of the day, refusing to come out from under my desk.  Silly puppy!  I am working
on getting him out more.  He has a real shyness around men.  He seems fine
until they open their mouths to talk.  I haven't figured out why, but I'm hoping
he will get over it.  He is selective and it's not all men.  I think the deeper the
voice, the more guarded he is.  He started puppy training last week.  His tail
didn't stop wagging.  He is also scheduled for his first big boy haircut on the
16th.  I am feeling like a mom...nervous.  I am interested to see what he is going
to look like under all that puppy coat.  He is getting curl underneath which
seems to be coming quicker than Jersey's.  He hasn't had an accident in three
weeks which is great!  A lot of it has to do with me being more in tune with his
signals.  I absolutely adore him and if I had a bigger house would be over run
with poodles.  They grow so fast and I love puppies.  Here's his latest pics.
Adria
PS  He is such a little thief.  The other day he had two shoes and a bath towel in
his bed.  He loves getting anything he can grab         11-2-13

Although we have a lot of pictures most of
them are of her in motion because she is rarely
still! Bella still sleeps with her blanket from you
and she thinks she needs to lay her head on a
pillow. She loves to play squeak toy in our laps
for hours but her new favorite toy is a soccer
ball that she seems to know exactly how to kick
around with her feet. I won't lie, Bella is a bit
ornery... she will find ANY object that we leave
unprotected and attempt to make it into a toy.
She certainly enjoys the snow (especially as a
snack) and loves to run around in it. Our
daughter lives next door with her 1 year old
basenji and the two of them have the best time
outside together and are learning to play gently
with each other. No more problems with
diarrhea since we have put her on the Iams
adult mini-chunks that you suggested and she
is up to 38 lbs. Have a wonderful holiday and
we will keep you updated with pictures as soon
as we can get more that aren't of her in motion!!

Hi LuAnn,
He knows sit, shake, down, wait, leave it, drop it and no. He is such a sweet sweet calm boy. When I say calm, I mean that he is calm when he needs to be and
playful when he needs to be. He’s not a pushy boy and he is extremely mindful. He waits when we open the door and while going up and down the stairs as
well. He’s been exceptional with Stevie these last several weeks as Stevie has been very trying to say the least. And Sam loves giving Booker his special
cookies (treats).

Today we had an appt. for Stevie down at the University of Maryland and while I do not recommend this to anyone, we decided to leave Booker free in the home.
Mind you, gates were across the therapy room and hallway to the upstairs. We were gone for a bit longer than anticipated as the GI doc was running behind.
Booker was home for a total of 4 1/2 hours and did absolutely wonderful. When I opened the door he was sitting on his bed looking at me like, “It’s about time.”
It’s funny as he doesn’t chew anything in the home except his own toys. He definitely knows what is his and what’s not. However, we have to keep close watch
while outside as he seems to turn into a billy goat. LOL. In my personal opinion, he’s the best puppy on the planet. There could never be another like him.

Thanks for letting us bring home such a blessing.

Much love,

Michelle and the rest of the Gillespie family                                  2-24-14
Hello LuAnn....

After a multitude of name changes and "dog with no name", Bubba is officially "Bobo"
now. He has proven to be a massive handful !!!  Loves to mop the floor, be a canine taste
tester of anything and everything, destroy wallets, eat paper money (has a fondness for
$20 and $100 bills) dig holes, destroy outdoor carpet and underground watering systems,
eventually destroy EVERY toy he gets, and keeps the kitchen, bathroom counters, sinks
and my office desk free of clutter!!!...On the bright side, he is lots of fun, everyone ooohs
and ahhhs over him--a friend who has a black standard says Bobo is all puppy, extremely
smart and most impressive looking !!

Apparently I was giving him too much freedom early on...I had him confined to the
kitchen and outside when I was gone--but I would come home and find the kitchen a
wreck and the patio a mess...it has taken me all these months to accept that he needs to
be confined to his kennel when I am not home and surprise to me--he doesn't complain
at all.

When I first got him, I had another dog--a sheltie--who had no interest in Bobo--but Bobo
was totally interested in her...he did not understand that she did NOT want to play.  Bobo
treated her like she was his personal chew toy!!!!  She passed away a few weeks ago (old
age) and Bobo seems to have calmed down quite a bit without her around.

He got a horrific haircut back in Dec. such that I was too embarrassed to take any pics;
even the vet commented on what an awful haircut he had!!! The groomer offered no
explanations (she had groomed my other poodle for several years with great success); I
REALLY think she let one of the teenagers living in her house experiment in grooming
with Bobo.  Anway, we WON"T be going back there...we found a marvelous groomer in
February. WE had to wait some 4 weeks to get an appointment but it was well worth it.
Attached are some pics of Bobo taken today. He currently weighs about 65lbs. and is an
absolute joy to come home to!

realize how much hair he had!  She wanted to know if I was going to breed him.
She has a small female poodle from champion lines, but I don't think I'm ready
for puppies while working.  I wouldn't want to leave to go to work and I wouldn't
want to sell any of them.  It also might be difficult since he payed no attention to
her female and only wanted to play with the boys.   I am trying to wait until he
turns one to have him neutered.  Everyone recommends waiting for
performance dogs.  Jersey is entered in shows this weekend in Syracuse.  If all
goes well he could get his Open title.  Wish us luck.  Hope all is well.
